About Us
Technology CLE®, LLC ("TCLE") is a California Limited Liability Company founded in 2002. Our mission is to develop and present unique online scientific and technology coursewares that have been certified for CLE credit.
TCLE was founded by legal support professionals with years of experience in providing Expert Witness services in technical and scientific subject-matter. Over the years we learned that in legal proceedings that involve technological disciplines, it is vitally important that the attorney litigating the case have a clear understanding of the meaning of terms and how they apply to and impact the evidence.
Prior to the formation of TCLE and the launch of this web site, accredited coursewares in the technical subject-matter now offered by TCLE were unavailable(1). By leveraging off the vast depth of senior technical Expert Witnesses from academia and industry we have created CLEs that are new and different from any seen before by the legal profession and those Jurisdictions that grant CLE credit for online courses.
Since 2003, we have been in communication with these Jurisdictions in open and frank discussions about our course material and why they are vital for today's legal profession. To date, our courses are accredited in nearly 40 Jurisdictions for both self-study and participatory credit.
Our course material focuses on what attorneys will learn to update their legal knowledge, and how they currently practice law with the full spectrum of technology-based continuing legal education.
TCLE is "raising the bar" in online CLE course materials. Our courses are designed for the purpose of "cross-profession" instruction that relate to the subjects of substantive law, practice and procedure on a number of fronts, including:
- Patent attorneys that deal with highly technical subject-matter daily.
- Attorneys drafting interrogatories on technical subject matter.
- Attorneys taking depositions or addressing Expert Reports from technical Expert Witnesses.
- Litigators who wish to challenge the technical ability of an opposing Expert Witness pursuant to Daubert must have the fundamental technical knowledge to make such a challenge.
- Intellectual Property attorneys, in particular, in patent infringement cases must construe or rebut the meaning of terms in a patent's claims. The attorneys involved in such litigation must have, at a minimum, a basic understanding of the technologies at issue.
A large percentage of all litigation today involves some kind of technical issue. If a litigator must understand why a contract is breached, is he or she not also required to understand why their client's product or service has failed or intellectual property has been infringed? In today's competitive legal marketplace, attorneys who want to gain and maintain clients in the technology sector are better equipped to represent those clients by having, at the very least, an understanding of their clients' technical industry and their products.
TCLE coursewares are designed to demystify the technical issues that are faced by legal professionals on a daily basis. Our courses are intended to provide an overview of technical disciplines and explore the intricate details of the subject-matter. Our proprietary web-based presentation application features narratives recorded by voice-over professionals to guarantee the highest quality presentation.
We are always striving to improve our coursewares and website, and as such, we welcome all suggestions and comments.
We hope you enjoy your visit to tcle.com.
